Latest Update: 07/29/23

Hello again!

Due to the use of song lyrics in one of the chapters, I sent the production team a couple of edited pages to avoid any copyright issues. I have not heard from them this week, however, that is not entirely unexpected. Right now the copy editor is proofreading the entire manuscript and editing for grammatical and continuity errors. When they have completed this very crucial job, they will send me the edits so I can make corrections as necessary / desired. I'm looking forward to updating you, dear readers, as soon as I have more information available to me. 

Update: 07/17/23

The production team has been in contact with me and had me provide the blurb for the back of the book, a short autobiography and photo for the inside of the book, and the dedication and acknowledgements pages. Now that those have been provided, we are working on getting copyright permissions due to my use of some song lyrics in one chapter. 

If I am not able to gain the permissions, then I will have to rewrite the scene to exclude the lyrics. If I do get permission, it will likely include a fee for the usage or even a percent of the book sales. 

Right now, I'm waiting for the production team to contact the copyright owner but I'm not sure how long it will take to get a response. Until the copyright issues are resolved, production cannot move forward. I will keep this updated with recent news.

I have just signed a book contract and I am excited to move forward with the publication of my first novel! I encourage you all to come back and check in here, as I will be posting updates of the progress and sharing my experiences in the publishing world! Check back soon!
